Meet Mrs. Phelps
This is my 10th year teaching elementary education. I previously taught 6 years in Marion, Illinois. I began my teaching career by teaching Reading Recovery to 1st grade students. In Marion, I worked in the Title Reading program for 2 years before moving to a 4th grade classroom. I transferred from Marion to Harrisburg in 2010 and have been teaching 4th grade in Harrisburg for 4 years. Every year has been exciting and memorable, as I have been lucky to teach such wonderful students. East Side is a great place where I truly enjoy being around such enthusiastic students, staff, and parents.
I grew up in Harrisburg and graduated from Harrisburg High School. I know live in Eldorado with my husband, Luke. We welcomed Laban, our first child, in 2008 and our second child, Leah, in 2012. They are the loves of our life, and we enjoy every minute we spend with them.
Here is a bit more information on my educational background. I graduated from SIC in the spring of 2001 with my Associate's Degree. I transferred to the University of Southern Indiana where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in elementary Education with a minor in Reading. I look forward to continuing my education throughout my teaching career.
In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students. I believe that great things happen when we all work together!
